over class 95

this is such a cute over-the-air commercial...

"before we got married, he called me sweetie pie."

" after we got married, he called me dear."

"after i gave birth to our son Jason, he called me mummy."

"now he calls me, oi."

=S

long sunday

totally exhausted when i stepped into home yesterday. it was an extra long day for me.

at 2+am i was woken up by a mozzie which gave me 7 "love"bites. surprised to find justin online. we chatted till abt3+am. feeling all restless at 4+am, i put on my saucony shoes and went for a 6.5km run. got back, showered, lied in bed for a while before picking myself off my bed and cycled down to east coast park for my race.

got there really sleepy as i managed to keep myself awake by talking to some friends. i love races, coz those are chances to see all my friends. tri circle is not big..so more or less, after a while, those familiar faces become easily recognisable.

the weather yesterday was beauuuuutiful! no hot sultry sun..just a sky with hovering greyish clouds and those blow-me-away gusts of wind.

i raced within my own expectations. happy with it. ok..goal 1 was to NOT come in last for my category...2nd goal was to do a sub-3. i was estimating, 10km run=1hr, 36km bike 1hr 15mins, 5km run=40mins. i did a 2hr 45min (according to my own stop watch) i did a 54mins 10km, 1hr 19mins bike, 31mins 5km. the bike wasn't too good as i was hoping to push harder but the headwind didn't make it too easy. i was spinning at an average of 90rpm..but i was only going at an average 29-30kmh. i really don't like those hair pin turns as they force me to slow down drastically and then having to pick up speed again was..ARGGH. nonetheless, overall, it was a good race for me.

the not-too-good part came only AFTER the race. i had to ride down to running lab to start work at 1pm. by the time i ended the race and gained composure (mine was the 3rd wave..so i ended a little late) it was already almost 1230pm. having to find my way out of the cordoned off areas i was only on my bike by 1240pm. 20mins?!? how to get to rl in 20mins.. so i sms-ed sam to tell him i'll be late. got to work by 128pm.

worked at rl till 830pm.

cycled home! i got home in 1hr5mins. i would have been able to do better, if not for the numerous red lights! i stopped for about 8times at the traffic junctions. totally disruptive!

had a good dinner of cucumber and crab sticks with some ham for dinner. shortly after which, i plonked on my bed, zombified, dead beat and asleep.

this morning, i did a slow recovery 4km run to work.

i'll attempt to run and climb stairs during lunch time if i don't have to go to school.

tonight will be swimming..ahhhhhhhhhhh..it's going to be muo gui training again! hehehe..

let's see what we're made to do tonight ya? =) will update tomorrow!

fetish-es!

thank goodness that catlike shield on sale on togoparts has been sold off! i was just a tad bit too late huh. i would have lay my hands on it! it's of a cool blue colour..would have made a perfect couple with my current red one.

i'm waiting for more info from jessica on the las helmet. i should be getting the squalo.

gee. me and my helmet fetish.

don't talk about just helmets..i called up kian hong to find out if they had my dream t1 shoes..and unfortunately(or fortunately) they haven't got them in size 38. new shipment will be in some time next week, i'll call up again to ask. mean time i do know teck hock hin has zeta in 38. another lust: new road/tri shoes. heh heh heh. i'm thinking about tomorrow's du..and i wish i had some flashy sidi shoes to flaunt..but i guess i'll be racing with my diadora for now.. not sure which shoes to use..probably my wave spacer since i got it on quick release laces.

totally not prepared for the du..i shall just take it as training i guess.

was suppose to be up doing my 3hrs ride and i just lied in bed. shit. i woke up at 315am and i told myself..okok 5 more mins..the next time i opened my eyes, it was 6am. holy moly! sigh. i was utterly too late for anything..so i just decided to give myself a good rest. at 8am, changed up and ran to work.

what's for tonight? i'm unsure too. du's tomorrow. though like most people would probably take the stance of just resting..but should i? maybe not.. as i am typing this, i see myself cycling down upp thomson road! probably i should =)

hmm..go have my haircut.. should i swim? maybe? run back home? ok..i'll decide after lunch. meantime, enjoy the food i've cooked - chicken breast with mushrooms! yum yum!

muo gui training

ok..the blog entry is titled "muo gui training"..monster training. ke wei made su-lin (i think that's her name. i keep forgetting it) and i do some crazy intervals. i did 8 laps of kicking, 10laps 2sec side drills with buoy, 10 laps 2 sec side drills without buoy..and guessed what he said after those 28laps.

"ok! end of warm up. time for training."

"what!?!? 28laps called WARM UP?!?!!"

o_O

-stabs herself-

we did 10x100m sprints. at the end of each 100m, we were made to hang on the swim platform with 90deg arm bend for 1min. 10sec breather, next set. my arms were shaking super badly by the 2nd set..and by the time i did my 7th set of swim, i could barely feel my arms any more.

i'm almost catching up with su-lin. i hope to be on par with her soon.

to me it's an achievement. i've only started training with them for 3 weeks..while she has been training there for a yr plus. i am about 20m slower than her. i will bring the gap nearer soon. trust me. =) when i started on the first week, her kicking was 75m ahead of me. haha.

during those laps, i kept in mind about han telling me to tuck my head. look only 2 directions. at the bottom of the pool when i swim, and side when i breathe. it really really helped. plus the ti drill of tucking my head to my arm. wow..that helped pull in distance with su-lin.

and guess what..this morning i did the same muo gui training to myself again. i'm hooked on it man! 4 laps of kicking, 10 laps with buoy then i proceeded into 10x100m with the arm bend. my head was so hot from the adrenaline by the 5th set..but that soon eased off by the 6th lap. maybe i slowed down a little! =P

when i finished those sets, i was feeling "high"! from the adrenaline.. and in fact, i was craving for more. most probably my body has accustomed itself to the training itself.

will be having lessons with han tomorrow, i hope to be able to correct my hand entry coz i realise it's making quite some splashes at quite a few points during my sets. i'm still not sure how my hand should be making a smooth entry. i'll learn that with han tomorrow. i hope my body is rolling enough now. it's still a little inflexible when i have to roll on my left. han spent quite some time to emphasize on that. my right arm can come down at 12pm but my left is only 10pm. that's not a good thing.. =/ i've been working on it..to adapt to bringing my body to disequilibrium so i relearn my rolling properly. i've been trying to roll higher on my right when i breath but i think my kicking is too weak to support that. =S

there you go..a whole long list of items i need to work on. no way am i giving up without a fight. it reminded me how demoralized i was when i was coached under alvin. i just felt my swim was so wrong. i recalled there was one swim, i swam till i teared coz i felt so much drag and i was just going slower and slower. but that's the past now. put that behind me..and i am moving forward! woohoo!

got connected with the german guy who is keen for sabah adventure challenge. let's see how it'll work out.

tommy came out with a plan for Maple Dream fund raising drive. Great..i'm going to pore through the proposal and see what i can contribute to.

i wonder if spinning instructors are paid? coz some of the spinning instructors in cali really cannot make it. just to name.. barry and selina aren't exactly my faves. well.. what i do is just to switch off to what they say and i'll just do my own training. work with my hrm.. and then i do the intervals that christina usually would do. christina and elizabeth are still tops on my list of spinning instructors. they know what they are teaching! but from the look of it, there are very few evening classes by christina these days.. sigh.

i've got a fetish for gregory's advent pro! i'm wondering if i'll need a bag that big for sabah.. hmm. i'm restraining my self..in case i need that $270 for canada or what nots. got to tie my hands together.

tonight, intervals training at the stadium. crap..i missed my ez bike ride coz i slept in(again). i'll go for a spin anyway.. want to do it on my na na tonight.

heh. more self imposed muo gui training on its way. tricia's such a masochist. sniggles. (*_*) v

i see the finish line

yesterday's xphysique was a blast! the combi of bryan, clarence, afri and i created much synergy. clarence and bryan are very strong team mates to race with. i was kayaking with clarence and we were going fairly fast. we managed to overtake about 4-5 kayaks ahead of us. definitely much better an attempt than trying to paddle with afri the last time round. he kept hitting my head with the paddle. bleah... after clarence and i hit the shore, we were about 5mins ahead of afri and bryan. both of us got the chance to abseil down shaw towers too.. it was nice meeting jasmine at the abseil site..haven't seen her in a while. towards half way of the race, afri started to feel cramps and punctured..thanks to bryan we went to the back to keep pushing him on, afri continued to press on. i just kept on pace to continue jogging and not stop while clarence shuttled between me and bryan. our team came in 6th in position..but was later alleviated to 3rd position due to the time penalties the earlier teams incurred. it was a pleasant pleasant surprise for us =) we were just beaming away.

apart from the 4hrs race itself yesterday, i kick started it early at cali way at 9am. 9-10am i was bodypumping.. 10-11am i was down spinning. after spinning, i had a nice warm shower before walking down 2mins to youth park to register for the race. race started at 1pm and ended quarter past 5 for us. after the prize presentation at 720pm, i cycled home.

so much for an adrenaline packed day!

next up is the duathlon this sunday. and after that, 2 more weeks to vertical marathon.

woohooo..so much fun!!

adrian mok pm-ed me to tell me he might be able to find me a team mate for sabah.. -keeps her finger crossed- i really really want to go for it.. but with no team mates, i can't.

i think body pump helps a great deal in terms of building my strength. so thankful for those biceps and triceps which have developed a little from all the iron pumping. it helped during the kayaking quite a bit. heh heh..continue to do my dips!!!

weiliang's going to take a break from mtbiking..and he's going to part with his klein. i think i more heart pain for him. his klein-veronica, is such a babe. i hope the person who buys it over will do it justice.. race with it..it's a machine meant for the trails.

was too sleepy to run this morning though i did wake up at 4am. guess i'll push it back to tonight. will still get on with my noon jog and stairs..followed by swim tonight. after i get home, then i'll do my run.

one thing i have always kept in mind during races- keep moving. keep running. we will get to the finish line, eventually.

happy birthday, alvin tan. 14 feb 1979-14 jan 2006 you are loved by so many of us. we miss you. Posted by Picasa

running valentine

spent valentine's working till 7pm before heading to the stadium for my interval training. at 828am, the carekeeper chased the remaining runners out. thank goodness i have completed what i set out to do. 4x1200m+400m recovery.

my gastrocnemius has been aching after yesterday noon's run. attributing it to the morning skipping routine that might have caused it. on top of that, i didn't fully stretch after skipping. so..erm. could feel it pull before the run yesterday night, yet i still managed through the sets. could still run to work this morning. i guess it's not THAT serious after all.

it'll be swimming lesson tonight. contemplating if i would still be able to jog off from jalan besar after the swim to say, coronation plaza. i need to clock 12.8km today.. keeping my fingers crossed...hopefully i won't be too exhausted after the swim..i'll try to do a 6km at least. adding that to the 3.5km to work.. 3.5km in the noon. that'll get me to the 13km i need to do.

finally getting a better hang of the arm coordination portion of freestyle. however, i think i got a long way to go in terms of correcting my pulling in..and of course, not forgetting my lousy kicking. been doing my dips to give my arms more strength so that i'll be able to execute the pulls with more power. i agree that to swim faster, it shouldn't be increasing the number of arm strokes i'm doing..it ought to be pulling harder to catch more water, so as to propell myself further. read from the forum that training the latissimus dorsi does help. will have to research abit on what kind of weights i can do to help that. mean time i'll just be doing more dips do train my triceps.

xphysique is this sunday. starting at 12nn (argh. warm!) i think it should end off at about 4-6pm. it'll be my first time racing with clarence and bryan (i haven't even met them before. they are kee leng's friends).. and my second race with afri. wish H5N1 good luck. was touching base with afri on the race.. in any case if we were to get stuck at the bottleneck, our take is to skip. rather than DNF-ing, we would rather suffer a time penalty. (think the experience at perak) the difference between now and perak probably would be that during perak, we had no choice to skip. the marshalls told us that we would be immediately DNF-ed if we skipped a station. who knows..we waited 1.5hrs at the abseil site.. abseiled down..and was still cut off, DNF-ed and ferried back on the truck. bleah.

i am really really hoping to find a team mate. someone i can race with. someone who isn't already in a team. not just a race-mate (afri is a race-mate).. but a TEAM mate. not too sure where to find one. saw a guy running and doing pull ups at cck stadium yesterday and gee, i was really tempted to ask him if he raced.

long day ahead, tricia. keep it going. 2 runs, stairs + swim. i can do it! =D
